Subscriber power! The papers fight back

When everyone starts consolidating bills during a recession, it’s always nice to have a constrant stream of income. Enter a new way for newspapers to encourage subscription…

…tailoring the front cover.

Hardly a revolution, but The Advertiser seems to believe it will help with subscriber recruitment and retention.

You can expect the retail copies on the street to increase the clamour for attention, while subscriber copies will reportedly actually be informative.

Subscribers may also have access to exclusive competitions (and we all love an exclusive).

Will be interested to see whether this boosts subscription rates, though as the newspaper claims there’s no extra cost, where’s the harm?
