Which colour are you?

Reported a while ago in Marketing Mag, here’s an extra video for the latest M&Ms promo in Australia…

Interesting… the M&Ms ‘break-up’ gives each colour an identity and personality, as well as creating hype over prizes to be won.

Mars had been experimenting previously with characters for the candy, but only for Red and Yellow. In true boy/girl band style they’ve only retained 5 characters – for some reason Brown is missing. Maybe he’s the missing link for peace and harmony.

Are we going to start identifying with the different colours…just like we are with the iPod nano? Even though they taste exactly the same…

[EDIT: What I want to know is, how does a global brand like M&Ms expect to launch something like this only in Australia but not have it affect other markets? Just heard about an M&Ms easter hunt for elsewhere – both are online!]
