Don’t take recycling sitting down

An ambitious young French designer has taken an unusual approach to ‘recycled materials’.
Furniture designer Oscar Lhermitte dreamt up a way to use the hundreds of free newspapers distributed on the street which often go to waste. His new series, called the ‘X days project’, aims to create furniture from these newspapers without using other materials to stick them together, such as screws, nails, or glue.
The first of the series to be released is logically named the ‘334’ after the number of newspapers that were used in its creation. Shown above, it took only 3 pieces of metal to give the bench its shape and enough strength to hold 5 people.
Even better, the designer claims that this piece only cost him about 5 pounds to make. For price, simplicity and novelty factor, I’d love to have one of these – as long as it stays out of the rain!
