Many friends have recently started discovering this brave new world of blogs and tweets. Their question is, what’s in it for me? So it got me thinking…
If social media were a university course there would be some pretty crazy ‘desired learning outcomes’ you could apply elsewhere…
Students who have completed Twitter 2.0 will:
- Be able to express themselves clearly and concisely;
- Be adept at identifying and emphasising keywords;
- Be able to follow disjointed conversations and cross-reference key facts;
- Have the skills to monitor and react to real-time events.
Students who have completed Blogging 3.0 will:
- Be comfortable with creating engaging taglines for their work;
- Understand the first mover advantage;
- Be adept at networking within a niche group;
- Gain a basic knowledge of HTML, graphic design and layouts.
Maybe I’ll use those in my CV next time…
